New screenwriter Adam Cozad has apparently found a niche. He’s working on the new Jack Ryan movie, a script that has echoes of his first unproduced script Dubai (a CIA Agent on the run from international figures, needing to clear his name, and save his wife). He’s now penning The Gray Man, about a “former CIA operative-turned-assassin who suddenly finds himself on the run through Europe as mysterious forces try to take him out. Meanwhile, he struggles to return and save the lives of the daughters who don’t know he exists.” (THR)
David Sedaris is one of the few prolific popular contemporary writers who hasn’t had his work turned into a film. That will no longer be the case. David Sedaris gave the rights to “C.O.G.” from Naked to Easier With Practice director Kyle Patrick Alvarez, who has now completed the script. The story was about the time Sedaris got a job cutting rocks into the shape of Oregon and selling them, along with a co-worker who called himself “Child of God” (C.O.G.). And if you haven’t seen it, the phone-sex love story Easier With Practice, which Prisco adored, is now streaming on Netflix. (Gordon and the Whale)

Coolness. Why was Leno’s White House Correspondent’s speech so bad? Because his jokes were completely recycled (word for word) from his own monologue. (Politico) Why was Obama’s speech so much better? Because his jokes were written by “The Daily Show” writers. (Deadline)
