The 'Tomb Raider' Reborquel Has Found Its Young Lara Croft In Another Oscar Winner

Since it has been a full 15 years since Angelia Jolie poured herself into booty shorts and a tank top, the time has come for a new Tomb Raider film to be released. MGM, Warner Bros, and GK Films want to cash in on the renewed interest in the Tomb Raider series after the release of two new video games: Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider.
The new video games focus on a young Lara Croft becoming the seasoned and accomplished Tomb Raider of the original 1996 game and the Jolie movies. The problem with a reborquel is: What do you do when you had an Oscar winner portray your video game character in movies that grossed over $45 million? You grab an Oscar winner to reboot the franchise. Enter Alicia Vikander of The Danish Girl and Ex Machina to step into the skimpy clothes of the adventurer. Duh.

Vikander was chosen from a group of young actresses that allegedly included Daisy Ridley, Cara Delevigne, Emilia Clarke and Saoirse Ronan. And Justin Bieber. (I made one of those up. Guess which one!)

I am very meh on this news. I don’t believe I’ve ever watched either of the original movies in their entirety and I have no desire to watch any new Lara Croft adventures. I have played the old and the new video games. I got stuck on some seemingly indestructible assbag in the new game and haven’t played since.

Is anyone excited about this?
