The interwebs are rife with ruminations on the end of “Lost” and also with traces of its beginnings. Casting audition tapes are making the rounds and it seems appropriate to look back, not unlike a parade of flashing images marching through a mind just before death.

Jorge Garcia auditioning for Sawyer:

Dominic Monaghan auditioning for Sawyer:

Matthew Fox auditioning for both Sawyer and Jack. It’s easy to see how wrong for Sawyer he is (though passionate) — and how right for Jack:

Josh Holloway doing what he was meant to do — Sawyer:

Evangeline Lilly auditioning for Kate, and discussing a dead (as he was originally planned to be) Jack:

There are several more audition clips to be found on YouTube (you’ll see the list of them if you double click on any of those above), including Ian Somerhalder (Boone), Maggie Grace (Shannon), Harold Perrineau (Michael), Malcolm David Kelley (Walt), Emile de Ravin (Claire), Yunjin Kim (auditioning for Kate) and Daniel Dae Kim (Jin).

We’re going to miss you, old friends.

Okay, I had to add this, just because.
