The mid-Atlantic coast in the US is in the grips of a snow storm that’s been raging since Friday in most places, and is still dumping plenty of snow on cities from Charlotte to New York. There have been hours-long backups on the roads, electrical outages in some cities, and multiple feet of snow in some cities that are absolutely incapable of handling it (like D.C, where I’m currently sitting). But in more on-topic news, the snow has been taking a bite out of the weekend box office for some movies. Or at least that’s the excuse that Dirty Grandpa is going with.
This mostly affects the new releases this week, The Revenant is still set to make about $16 million because it was the only movie this weekend that was adequately prepared to handle the weather despite the handicap of being
mauled by a bear released a few weeks ago. That or when you’re dealing with a historic snow event, the only thing that make it better is watching Leonardo DiCaprio eat raw bison liver in the frigid Canadian wilderness.
We’ve yet to see the overall affect of Jonas, as of 1:40pm EST in DC it’s still coming down pretty hard, so please bear with us though whatever weather related issues may come up.
