Apparently unoccupied with the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film that’s shooting at the moment, Stellan “Bootstrap Bill” Skarsgard is in talks to join the cast of David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, his big-budget take on the first novel in Stieg Larsson’s best-selling Milennium trilogy.
I guess it’s fitting that the Swedish actor is participating in the American remake of the Swedish film. He’d be playing one of the main suspects in the missing persons case that brings together a disgraced journalist — Daniel Craig — and a reserved hacker — not sure yet (they’re still figuring that out).
This news does answer my question as to whether or not the mystery would be moved Stateside. Says Skarsgard: “Most of it is to be shot in Stockholm, but some studio work will be done in the U.S. I think there might be some location work there as well, when it becomes too dark to shoot here.”
In other words, the Swedish film based on the Swedish novel about Swedish families and politics and set in Sweden still just had to be remade by us Americans.
Whatever. It’s not my money.
