Break Out Your Sadface; The Next Bond Has Reportedly Gotten the Unofficial Nod and It's Not Idris Elba
Brace yourself guys, it looks like the bookies might have been right, and I’ve got some bad news to pass on …
It would seem the bigwigs have made their decision, and whether or not it’s because he’s “too street,” Idris won’t play the next Bond. But, you know our Idris; he’s not the kind of guy to let anything keep him down.
With plenty of movies in the works (Cary Fukunaga’s Beasts of No Nation hits Netflix October 16th), and more Luther on the way, Idris is gonna be just fine.
Onto the news; The Mirror (whose source has been on the money about Andrew Scott’s Spectre casting, and both Sam Smith and Adele landing the theme songs) says Damian Lewis has been given the “unofficial nod” to take over as Bond after Daniel Craig steps down.
“He is seen as an all-round international star who is perfect for the role. As he ages, he looks increasingly suave and sophisticated.”
Like Elba, Lewis’ slate is pretty full at the moment — including the upcoming Showtime series, Billions, and an 8-part miniseries, To Appomattox — but who knows? Craig could throw in one more 007 film for the road.
I’mma throw Lewis, who is a damned fine actor and worthy of Bond, a little cheer,
but I’ve gotta say, my heart belongs to Idris007.
Gif out your feelings with me, people.
