The New Television Season Gets Its First Two New Full Season Orders

ABC is the first network hand out full-season orders to new shows, awarding them to the highest rated new show of the season, How to Get Away with Murder, and the highest rated new sitcom of the season (so far), black-ish. HTGAWM will run for 15 episodes, while black-ish will run for 22.

As I wrote earlier, Shonda Rhimes new drama is highly addictive, and also complete crap. It’s going to be a blast to watch for about 10 episodes, so it’s actually encouraging to see that a full-season order for that series is only 15 episodes. Meanwhile, I am actually digging black-ish, too. It’s the best new sitcom of the season so far, not that that’s saying much (although, I kind of have hope for A to Z), and really the only new sitcom that came out of the gate with solid footing.

Expect more full-season pickups in the upcoming days, probably for Gotham on Fox, Scorpion on CBS, and Madam Secretary on CBS.
