For $12 a month, you can subscribe to Hulu and gain access to next-day airing of Fox and ABC sitcoms, tons of programming from other networks, and a few decent original series, all commercial free.
For about $9 a month, you can subscribe to Amazon, gain access to their 25 best series, much of the HBO back catalogue, a ton of free movies and kid’s shows, and you get free shipping on all Amazon orders. Basically, if you order more than twice a month from Amazon, it pays for itself.
For a little more, $15 a month, you can subscribe to HBO Now, which offers the entire HBO back catalogue, rotating movies, Game of Thrones, Last Week Tonight, Westworld, Veep, Silicon Valley, and everything else that comes out on HBO. It’s pricier than the other options, but all things considered, still very much worth the cost.
Or, you could subscribe to the brand new CBS All Access plan and pay $10 a month to gain commercial-free access to their new, unproven Star Trek series, an eventual Good Wife spin-off, Big Bang Theory, and a shitton of procedurals. If you didn’t want to pay $10 a month for crap, you could also only pay $6 a month for crap and sit through a bunch of commercials, many of which would be more interesting than the latest episode of NCIS: Bulgaria.
That is a garbage bargain. In fact, as much as I might be interested in the new Good Wife spin-off, I am refusing it out of principle. I vow not to subscribe to CBS All Access until they lower their price point, or dramatically increase their worthy offerings.
