Badass Digest claims they’ve been digging around that two-part movie scoop that would require renegotiating contracts with at least two (possibly three) actors; Chris Evans and Robert Downey, Jr., because both are currently signed through Avengers 3 only. If the storyline ran through a follow-up film, it would seemingly necessitate new or extended deals. According to BD, that won’t be a concern because Marvel is going to leave out Thor, Captain America, and possibly Black Widow. Say what?
Again, at this point these are just rumors, but the report goes on to say that Marvel is going to first focus on its Phase 3 characters (Doctor Strange, Ant-Man) with stand-alone films, leaving Thor and the Cap for a later triumphant return. Since Robert Downey Jr. seems to be amenable to continuing his Iron Man run, its presumed he’ll lead the remaining Avengers through 3, essentially being the steady force who’ll eventually round up the rest of the group later on. Confused? Yeah, me too. BD says the split off characters will be easily explained missing, what with Captain America “dealing with fallout” from Captain America 3 events, the Asgard drama wrapped up in Thor 3; several actors are currently working through their future schedules with Marvel. What I don’t understand here is, if two or three major characters are cut from Avengers 3, what in the world will the story be? Thanos battle carryover, Infinity Gauntlet, etc., or something entirely different? Do the Guardians of the Galaxy crossover characters make up for a missing Thor and Captain America; will Ant-Man and Doctor Strange be incorporated into Avengers 3? So many questions…
I anxiously wait the comic experts’ input.
