If you don’t already pay for the DC Universe streaming service — and you should because Doom Patrol — you may have another reason to pay the monthly fee. First announced in February 2018, the Harley Quinn animated series seems to still be on track to premiere in fall of this year. Kaley Cuoco, the voice of Harley in the series, shared this on her Instagram a couple of days ago.

Harley Quinn, based on the DC characters, focuses on Harley Quinn who has finally broken things off once and for all with the Joker and attempts to make it on her own as the criminal Queenpin of Gotham City. The series features Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and a whole cast of heroes and villains, old and new, from the DC Universe.

I am all for the series and the characters getting a chance to shine, but I’m not completely sold on Cuoco voicing Quinn. Her Big Bang Theory co-star Melissa Rauch provided the dismal vocal acting for the disappointing DC animated movie Batman and Harley Quinn in 2017. I don’t understand why they don’t pay Tara Strong to portray the characters since she’s the next best thing to original Harley Arleen Sorkin. It’s an accent that fans are picky about and Rauch failed.

Hopefully, the writers of the new cartoon understand why so many fans felt upset by Harley’s portrayal in Batman and Harley Quinn and do better by the character in this iteration. Other positives are Cuoco’s co-stars, including Alan Tudyk as The Joker and Lake Bell in the role of Poison Ivy. Other characters are voiced by Jason Alexander, Diedrich Bader, Giancarlo Esposito, Ron Funches, Tony Hale, Chris Meloni, Natalie Morales, Jim Rash, JB Smoove, and Wanda Sykes. We’ll all know this fall how well DC Universe handles our Harley when the series premieres.
