The 'Good Wife' Showrunners Are Abandoning the Sinking Ship

The Good Wife has not officially been renewed for another season by CBS, and it shouldn’t be. However, if it is, creators and showrunners Robert and Michelle King will not be going down with the ship. The married couple is moving on to another series they have in development for CBS, BrainDead, as well as Vatican City, a pilot they’ve sold to Amazon.

CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller, however, noted that the Good Wife has a “deep bench” and singled out Craig Turk as a possible successor.

Let’s put the once Great Wife but now Desolute Wife out of its misery. We do not need another season of Alicia moping over the long-dead Josh Charles character, and we certainly don’t want to see Julianna Margulies alienate even more of her fellow cast members. Her goddamn husband’s presidential bid is toast, and now we’re spending entire B-plots on Howard Lyman and his goddamn prenups, while Cary and Diane continue to flounder about in the hopes that someone will write them a decent goddamn storyline.

Also, Alicia is no longer a “good” wife, if she ever was one. She’s trying to bang Jeffrey Dean Morgan (and no one can blame her for that), having booty calls with a husband she doesn’t really care for, pining over a dead man, and letting a judge jerk her around because she was privy to his bribery shenanigans.

Just kill the show dead in its face, because those of us who have stuck with it and loved it for the most part would like to get off the train, as well, but we’re too goddamn stubborn to leave a show we’ve invested so much into.

Not for nothing, but you can also add the Kings to the pile of people who have left the show, which may or may not have anything to do with a lead who wants all the attention.
