Nerdist Has Tommy Wiseau As The Joker Again In 'The Interrogation Room'
Cult film star, writer, and director Tommy Wiseau has petitioned to portray the Clown Prince of Crime for the DCEU for a while now. In March of this year —when Joaquin Phoenix was only rumored to be up for The Joker — Nerdist released Wiseau and The Room co-star Greg Sestero in an “audition tape” for the role. Now that we are seeing set photos and wordless video footage of Phoenix in the (not my favorite) makeup and (utterly fantastic) suit during filming, Nerdist has released Wiseau’s Joker and Sestero’s Batman re-enacting the infamous interrogation room scene from The Dark Knight.
As I said in March, Wiseau is certainly unstable enough in his “acting” style to be a fully bonkers Joker. Of course, it would take a huge amount of time to get Wiseau’s lines filmed without him messing up or completely forgetting them. The people who couldn’t understand Tom Hardy’s Bane in The Dark Knight Rises would have full meltdowns attempting to decipher Wiseau’s “Louisiana” accent. Then there’s the whole thing where no one can watch Wiseau performances without the guys of Rifftrax talking over most of it, so it just seems expensive to hire him.
I’m sure Warner Bros. and DC are calling him as I type.
