The cast of “Community,” in their continuing efforts to save the show from its mid-season interruptus, deigned to pose for the cover of TV Guide this week, even though the TV Guide viewership is the very audience that has consistently ignored the show. It’s kind of like Rick Perry showing up to a PETA event wearing the bloody carcass of a Grizzy Bear and shilling for votes despite mutual and aggressive animosity. So, Joel McHale, et. al, plaster on their fake smiles for the supermarket-stand crowd, which reads TV Guide from their padded toilet seats surrounded by hand-knit toilet-paper doilies before they plunk down on their waterbeds and settle in for an evening of “Wheel of Fortune” and “Blue Bloods” because that Tom Selleck still has it. Rowr.
Wait. I’m describing my Mee Maw, the only person I know who reads TV Guide. So, good luck, “Community” winning her over: I can’t wait to hear her bird parrot lines from the show, “*croak* Alcohol makes people sad. It’s the Lifetime movie of beverages. *croak*”
