The 2015 Emmy Nominations

The 2015 nominations were announced this morning and OHMYGOD TATIANA MASLANY WAS NOMINATED?

Not a bad list of nominees this year, although as predicted, not a single of the deserving actors and actresses that I predicted wouldn’t get nominated were nominated, and that’s especially sad for Aden Young (Rectify) and Andre Holland (The Knick. In fact, both of those shows were shut out among the major awards, as was Justified in its final season.

Mad Men and Parks and Recreation did get some love in their final seasons (in fact, you’ll see Jon Hamm’s name a couple of times below). Game of Thrones, Orange is the New Black, and ABC’s limited series, American Crime dominated, while Bloodline and its two best performances, from Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelssohn were somewhat surprisingly recognized. The same could be said for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Titus Burgess, as Netflix has clearly established itself as a dominant force at the Emmys.

Other unfortunate snubs, beyond Justified, include Jane the Virgin, Daredevil and The Americans, while representation from Downton Abbey, Modern Family and to a lesser extent this year, Big Bang Theory continue to inexplicably rack up nominations, along with Jeff Daniels (COME ON). Emilia Clarke something of a head scratcher, too, especially if you’ve seen her in Terminator: Genysis.

Personally, I am most happy about Tatiana Mislay, and those who were nominated from Bloodline, Kimmy Schmidt and Better Call Saul, though the showdown between Mendelssohn and Jonathan Banks just isn’t fair.
