'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Earns a Sequel, The Bayening Continues

After a relatively strong opening weekend, it’s been announced that Paramont has already signed Michael Bay for a sequel to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec have already signed on, as well as a few other members of the production team according to the linked Deadline article.

Overall Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is projected to earn about $66 million domestically over this weekend. In contrast, Guardians of the Galaxy earned about $94 million last weekend. In both cases, this was about half their total budget and given the strong overseas market and merchandising appeal both will probably make plenty of money. I guess here is where I rant about reboots and all, but it’s my generation that made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles A Thing the first time around so I don’t really have room to cast aspersions on the taste of this current generation of children. Cowabunga, kids.
