Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar broke through penning ditties for the beloved and quirky Adventure Time, then brought her sweetness and lyricism to a slew of songs on her show about a boy learning to live up to the world-saving legacy of his mother. We’ve been hooked on the killer tracks of this kids’ show since season one. And now, at long last, an official (and digital only) Steven Universe soundtrack will be made available June 2nd.

According to, “The soundtrack album will feature remastered songs handpicked by Sugar and performed by the voice talents of the show, including Zach Callison (Steven), Estelle (Garnet), Deedee Magno Hall (Pearl), Michaela Dietz (Amethyst), and Tom Scharpling (Greg). Sugar and other special guests also perform on select tracks.”

There’s no promise yet which songs will appear on the soundtrack, but don’t expect it to follow in the footsteps of Bob’s Burgers’ 112-track album. Check this album title:

“Volume 1.” Now, an optimist might look at this and think that’s just to cover the songs that haven’t been penned yet, as the series is ongoing. But as someone who has repeatedly shelled out for one volume of another of this series on iTunes, I suspect Cartoon Network knows precisely how hungry fans are for these songs, and so will happily make us pay for our addiction in installments. Still, it’s hard to stay irked when you read the statement from an over the moon Sugar:

“I can not say enough about how much I love each of these tracks! But I can say that this is the best they’ve ever sounded! Please blast them! Please sing along! That’s what these are for! If the music of Steven Universe has been a tiny piece of the score of your life, please know that I am so honored. I hope you’ll love this album as much as we loved making it.”

In 2015, we compiled the ten best Steven Universe tracks, but now that we’re 120 episodes in, that’s probably due for a redo. So what’s your must-have songs for this volume one?

For me, it’s got to be the controversial and surprisingly sexy “What Can I Do For You,” featuring Steven’s parents, Rose Quartz and Greg Universe—with a silent but mic-dropping cameo from a jealous Pearl.

Kristy Puchko loves this show more than most things.
