I can’t quite keep up with Marvel Studios anymore but let’s give it a try anyway, shall we?
First, we found out our next Avengers film would be called Infinity War. Cool. Then we found out it would be split into two parts: Infinity War: Part I and Part Two. Double your pleasure, double your fun, awesome. But then Marvel decided to clarify and confuse things a bit. Part I was in fact titled Avengers: Infinity War. And as for Part II? Well, that remained a mystery of sorts until today.
In an interview with CinemaBlend, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was asked about the upcoming Avengers films, specifically if the title of the second film had not been released because it was a spoiler. His response? “Yeah, for sure.” When asked if he could confirm if Thanos would appear in the unnamed Part II, he refused to divulge anymore.
So what could the spoiler-ridden title of the second film actually be? Well, as it turns out, just ask Zoe Saldana.
In an interview clip with BBC News’ Lizo Mizimba, Saldana spoke about filming Avengers: Infinity War and said “we all have to go back for Gauntlet later this year.” Spoilers, Zoe!
So, is Part II really called Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet? Marvel haven’t confirmed but it seems like Saldana’s slip of the tongue (maybe she didn’t know the title was being kept under wraps?) spoiled the surprise for us all.
Except, it’s not much of a surprise or a spoiler at all considering this was the final scene of Avengers: Age of Ultron:
But we’ll pretend to be surprised for your sake, Kevin Feige! Just keep feeding us those delicious Marvel blockbusters.
