Bryan Singer Cast a 'Game of Thrones' Star as the Next Jean Grey
Last season on Game of Thrones we all saw little Sansa Stark grow up, learning to wheel and deal to survive, and at long last finding strength in her dark side. Well, what a perfect transformation to help the lovely ingenue Sophie Turner catch the eye of X-Men: Apocalypse helmer Bryan Singer.
On Twitter, Singer announced Turner will play Jean Grey in the upcoming prequel/sequel. Joining her will be Days of Our Lives’ Alexandra Shipp in the role of Storm, and ingendude Tye Sheridan of Tree of Life, Joe and Mudd. This is a BFD for all of the above, as it’s each’s highest profile film to date, boasting tent pole status, a summer 2016 release, and a star-stuffed cast that includes Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Michael Fasbbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Charles Xavier), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Oscar Isaac (Apocalypse), and maybe Channing Tatum as Gambit.
So high fives all around to the newly cast trio, but we’re most stoked for Turner. She’s been turning it out on Game of Thrones, alternating sweet looks with shade throwing. It’s about time a major movie property scooper her up. And deepening our crush on
Sansa Sophie, here’s her response to the life-changing news that she gets to play a beloved and volatile superheroine:
