Promotional materials are coming back online for The Interview, and multiple theaters are now announcing that Sony has authorized them to release the film on Christmas Day, as previously scheduled. While the major theater chains have not yet announced that they will and screen The Interview on Christmas, Sony is — according to The Wrap — set to announce that the film will also be released on Video On Demand, so that those who can’t watch The Interview in the select indie theaters around the country can now watch it at home.
So far, The Plaza Theater and the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin (of course!) have announced plans to screen the movie on Christmas.
Hooray! Now we can go back to grousing about the quality of The Interview, instead of whether we’ll get to see it at all. Even better, many of us will be able to watch it at home on Christmas Day, thus ensuring that our families will hate us!
Ultimately, this ended up being maybe the biggest inadvertent promotional push a movie has ever received, huh?
In the meantime, the movie’s stars, Seth Rogen and James Franco, have weighed in on Twitter.
