Sometimes Children Are Bad People Too

I’ve been waiting for this trailer.

Eric Bana, Cate Blanchett and a kick-ass young girl named Saoirse Ronan (Academy Award nominated for Atonement) star in this action-adventure thriller. Ronan plays Hanna, raised by her ex-CIA father, Erik Heller (Bana), to be a ruthless assassin. Daddy dearest sends her on a mission that attracts the attention of operative, Marissa Wiegler (Blanchett) and leaves Hanna racing toward her target, a trail of agents following.

Of course, we’re left wondering what Wiegler’s connection to Hanna really is - is she in some fashion Hanna’s mother? Is Hanna part machine? Is Heller really her father? Clearly the girl is experimental and being used. And we all know how those situations end; the creature turns on its creator.

Directed by Joe Wright (Atonement, The Soloist, Pride and Prejudice), Hanna also stars Tom Hollander (The Soloist, Valkyrie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest/At World’s End) and Olivia Williams (The Ghost Writer, “Dollhouse”) and features music by The Chemical Brothers. I think I’ll just go sit in the theater and wait (until April 11, 2011).
