While I'm In Your Mother, I'll Never Use a Rubber

If you didn’t catch “SNL” over the weekend, it was probably the best episode since the election — in fact, it was the only one besides the atrocious Alec Baldwin/Jonas Bros. episode that I actually managed to watch much of. Whatever you want to say about Justin Timberlake as a musical artist, he’s the best host “SNL” has had since Steve Martin in the 70s, although I feared that Saturday’s episode would basically be a rehash of all the past Timberlake skits. It was, and yet Timberlake still managed to breathe new life into his recurring characters as well as Tom Hanks used to (remember Mr. Short-Term Memory?).

Anyway, the Digital Short was the night’s highlight — a sequel to “Dick in the Box,” and, well, it was solid. If you didn’t love Patricia Clarkson before, first of all: What’s wrong with you? And second: You have no choice now.

The other highlight was Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto’s appearance on the news, an amusing appearance punctuated by Leonard Nimoy’s walk-on. Nimoy must be 75 years old by now, but I’m telling you, he could probably get more tail that he ever has. J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek is the best thing that ever happened to him — he’s suddenly a fucking rock star, and not just with Trekkies anymore.
