Seth Meyers has revealed that he will be sticking aroundSaturday Night Live for two more episodes, leaving after the Melissa McCarthy hosted episode on February 1st. He also teased that his current co-anchor, Cecily Strong, might be getting a new co-anchor after he leaves.

“It’s still up in the air, but Cecily comes from that Chicago ensemble world and … she loves playing off of someone, so I wouldn’t be surprised too see her with someone else,” Meyers said.

Would anyone be surprised if the newest cast member, Sasheer Zamata, joined her at the desk? Sure, it’s unlikely (she only has one show under her belt, and she’s only a featured player), but in addition to hiring a black female cast member and bringing aboard two black female writers, SNL could go a long way toward absolving its recent sins if it were to elevate Sasheer into the “Update” desk, assuming she is ready for it (a big “if.”)

If not Sasheer, I would bet on Beck Bennett, who has a certain news anchor quality about him. He has a face you can trust … to deliver fake news.

We’ve also known for quite some time that Amy Poehler would be Seth Meyers’ first guest on Late Night, but we’ve also learned that Poehler will be Fallon’s last guest on Late Night, which will make her the bridge between the two hosts in the same show.

Meanwhile, while we know that Jimmy Fallon will be Jay Leno’s last guests on The Tonight Show, we now know what Will Smith and U2 will be Fallon’s first guest on The Tonight Show, which seem like weirdly safe choices from a generation more closely associated with Jay Leno’s audience than Fallon’s. Fallon also said that he’d be doing a few weeks out of the year in Los Angeles, and that Justin Timberlake will, naturally, make the occasional appearance.

Speaking of Leno, NBC Chairman Robert Greenblat is hopeful that NBC will be able to continue their relationship with the host. “We’re very much hoping we will enter into a new relationship with Jay and keep NBC his home,” he said, which is probably his way of saying, “Please don’t go to another network, Jay. We don’t want to splinter the late-night audience even further.

Fallon’s The Tonight Show will debut on February 17th at midnight, after Olympics coverage.

One final note on late night: Piers Morgan has agreed on Twitter to help Taran Killem out with Killem’s Piers Morgan impression.
