(This article contains the mildest of spoilers for season 4 of Girls.)
I have a bad habit of leering on public transit. Not in a sexual way, mind you. (Well, depends, I guess.) No, the object of my lusty stare is everyone’s reading material. I have an insatiable curiosity as to what people around me are reading. So if you’re sitting next to me on a bus and reading, I am most definitely looking over your shoulder. But I consider it a bad habit because I absolutely HATE it when people do the same thing to me, when I can’t read in public without feeling a stranger’s eyes on my page, judging my choices of material or my reading speed. (I’m easily distracted, okay? It makes me read slower because things around me are shiny.) But you know who most definitely hates this more than I do? Tony Behringer, the casting director for Girls.
Behringer or someone that works for him (there was a watermark with his name on it) was reading a season 4 script on the subway, when another passenger got super snoopy. According to the lurker, the script answered the will-she won’t-she dilemna of Hannah’s potential move to Iowa for grad school.
In one of the scenes, Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) are FaceTiming with Hannah (Dunham), and they’re in New York while she’s living in Iowa City.
Just a friendly reminder to guard your PIN when entering it at gas stations, and hide those Nicholas Sparks novels because your neighbors ARE watching. And judging.
