Scarlett Johansson Scores Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell and Ilana Glazer For R-Rated Comedy
When she’s not kicking ass as Black Widow, the marvelous Scarlett Johansson is really challenging herself for better and worse, taking on turns in the oddball romance Her, the chilling thriller Under The Skin, the bonkers action flick Lucy, and the jaunty showbiz comedy Hail, Caesar! But we’re especially pumped about her upcoming R-rated comedy that has scored a killer cast of co-stars.
THR reports Kate McKinnon (Ghostbusters), Jillian Bell (21 Jump Street) and Ilana Glazer (Broad City) have joined Johansson and Zoe Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road) for Rock That Body. Previously titled Move That Body, the pic was penned by girlfriend/boyfriend team Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs, who recently thrilled us with Time Traveling Bong. Described as Weekend at Bernie’s meets The Hangover, the movie centers on five friends whose trip to a Miami beach house for a bachelorette party weekend goes hysterically awry. Production will kick off this August.
Sony is pumping up their production slate with female-fronted properties, including Ghostbusters and another in-the-works Aniello/Downs-penned 21 Jump Street spinoff. Which is great news for those craving more inclusion in film, but bad news for sad puppies and MRAs everywhere.
Cue the misandry gif parade!
