After an astounding 53 years on the air, the Spanish language variety show Sábado Gigante will be ending this September. Univision has said that the shows ratings have been dropping and they’ve decided to end the show gracefully.

While some of you may not be as familiar with the show, Sábado Gigante was a true variety show. Three hours long every Saturday night, they would imitate any popular television genre, any popular game shows, and any competition shows they could think of, along with some other segments all their own. A single episode could contain sketch comedy, lie detector tests, a singing competition, and audience participation segments all handled expertly by host Don Francisco. It was lovingly parodied by The Colbert Report among other English language shows. It was a show unlike anything else on TV, and it is sad to know that we are losing it.

The official end date is September 19th, so you have plenty of big Saturdays to go before saying goodbye forever.
