Hey Everybody! Great news: It was announced today that Ricky Gervais, he of “The Office,” and “Extras” fame (and who also wrote and starred in The Invention of Lying, which wasn’t very good) is set to host the Golden Globes this year. But before you get excited, let’s take second to remember that 1) while the Golden Globes are generally more entertaining than the Oscars, part of that reason is because there a) is no host, b) everybody is drunk and, 2) as Jon Stewart has proven as host of the Oscars, no host — no matter how good — can truly salvage an awards ceremony. 4. Lauren Bacall (1999)

1. Ricky Gervais (2010)
