OH. MY. GOD. You’d better sit down, and bring a stiff one. Drink, that is.

TVLine is reporting that The Hobbit’s Richard Armitage has just signed on for Hannibal’s third season as the legendary Francis Dolarhyde, aka The Tooth Fairy, aka The Great Red Dragon in Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon. Interestingly, in yesterday’s season 3 photo post, some of you were hoping his rumored paramour, Lee Pace would play this particular role.

With The Silence of the Lambs having introduced most people to Hannibal Lecter, it shouldn’t be a spoiler to mention the connection to Dolarhyde; Will Graham goes to visit Lecter at Baltimore’s Hospital for the Criminally Insane to get help in profiling The Tooth Fairy.

Armitage fits the Dolar-bill (sorry!) with his physical presence; the character is described a bodybuilder.

I’m telling y’all, Tumblr is going to utterly explode. We’re still waiting to hear when the third season returns, so hurry up (please) Fuller!

Let the dancing gifs begin…
