At the tender young age of 80, Oscar winner and Emmy nominee Ellen Burstyn has decided to direct her first film. Burstyn had the chance to direct her Oscar-winning performance in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, but she declined because she felt ill-prepared to tackle both responsibilities. She has no such qualms at this point.

Burstyn will helm, and star as the title character in, Bathing Flo. A New Yorker gets the chance to house-sit, free room and board,if he will look after the owner’s elderly mother, Flo. Though it doesn’t sound terribly compelling at the moment, I could watch the graceful Burstyn get attacked by a demon and love it. Actually, I have seen that and I did love it.

Since there is no start date for the film, let’s look at Burstyn in one of her most ethereal roles: Sister Summers in The Wicker Man. (Ignore the music.)
