Here’s a quick round-up of a few items to get you through the day.

First up, Peter Dinklage. Do I need to say anything more? No. You’re going to see the movie (unless it’s the Chris Rock-directed Death at a Funeral remake). Peter Dinklage is gold, people. He’s apparently in talks for a role in Joe Lynch’s The Knights of Badassdom .

Here’s the synopsis, from Bloody Disgusting:

A huge group of dedicated, costumed LARP-ers (that’s code for giant dork), dressed like knights, elves & various characters, give up their cell phones and take to the woods for the Central New Jersey Knights of Badassdom Adventure Society, where they are set to re-enact a dungeons and dragons scenario right out of the mythical Middle Ages. After being dumped by his sexy girlfriend Beth, Joe reluctantly decides to join Eric and his Larping friends in the woods rather than stay behind and feel sorry for his newly single status. There he meets hot, ass-kicking, intimidating huntress LARPer Gwen, and finds himself a surreal adventure wilder than he ever imagined when a make-believe wizard casts an all-too-real spell from an ancient book he bought on EBay, releasing an actual demon with a taste for human blood — and souls — that starts systematically decimating the players in this suddenly deadly “game.” Will our guys become the heroes they have been pretending to be before time runs out?

I’m not particularly familiar with Joe Lynch — he directed Wrong Turn 2, but the premise is …. well, geeky intriguing, and it could turn into an interesting film, or it could be a complete mess. But with Dinklage, there’s always hope.

In other news, we already knew that Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) was attached to direct Water for Elephants, which is set to star Reese Witherspoon. The movie is based on the Sara Gruen novel, which is being adapted by Richard LaGravenese (The Horse Whisperer, P.S. I Love You). Now we know that two more actors have been added to the cast: Sean Penn and Robert (motherfucking) Pattinson, who will play a 21-year-old who joins the circus after his parents die in the Depression-era movie. Jacob is entrusted with the animals, but ends up falling in love with the animal trainer’s young wife, to be played by Reese Witherspoon.

Robert Pattinson and Richard LaGravenese give me lots of pause, but Sean Penn (likely as the animal trainer) and Francis Lawrence (on a good day) provide a glimmer of hope. We’ll see.

Finally, Spike Jonze (Where the Wild Things Are) had a 31-minute short debut at Sundance last night. It’s called I’m Here, and it’s a robot love story. Here’s the trailer. It’s cute. And very much what you’d expect from Spike Jonze:
