That headline sounds like a bad thing, doesn’t it? Well, it’s not really, it’s just that whenever I think of screenwriter Katie Dippold, I remember that she once wrote a screenplay for an E*Trade talking baby movie, but that 20th Century Fox ultimately abandoned the project because E*Trade wouldn’t give the studio the rights to make the movie.
But Dippold was young, and just starting out, and since, she has several seasons of writing Parks and Recreation under her belt, as well as writing The Heat for director Paul Feig, who will be helming the all-female Ghostbusters movie. Dippold knows better now!
As mentioned previously, this all-female version will not be connected to the earlier movies, but will be launched as a new series. With Feig on board, most people anticipate that some of the actresses with whom he’s worked in the past will eventually land roles in the film (Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Sandra Bullock), but no one has officially signed on in any role (in fact, no roles have officially been written).
It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call.— Paul Feig (@paulfeig) October 8, 2014
