Our Current DEFCON Level 'SNL' Crush Has Been Tapped to Host This Year's White House Correspondent's Dinner

Isn’t she lovely? Let’s all swoon together while we adore her with her dog, OK?

Cecily Strong, the 30-year-old SNL cast member, has remarkably been tasked with entertaining the press and the President during next spring’s White House Correspondent’s dinner. It’s a big deal, too, because the gig usually goes to very well-established comedians or late night hosts. In fact, all of the current late-night hosts on the networks (and Comedy Central) have hosted in the past, save for Dave Letterman, and Cecily Strong’s presence will give her a much higher profile (GIVE HER A LATE NIGHT SHOW. FIRE CORDEN!). Rarely have we seen someone so young, and so relatively unknown take on hosting duties (Strong is only in her 3rd year at SNL and has very little experience outside of the show.)

Here, she’ll get the opportunity to showcase herself individually. She’s already got some experience on Twitter calling out bully dickheads (here she is responding to assholes who suggested she looked pregnant on SNL).

Or, maybe they’re just going to have her give her speech as the Girl You Don’t Want to Run Into at a Party.

It’s small consolation to losing the “Weekend Update” gig, but at least we won’t have to see Colin Jost or Michael Che hosting the White House Correspondent’s Dinner.
