As most of you know, the Sci-Fi channel has recently undergone a makeover of sorts, changing its name to SyFy in an effort to re-brand itself to appeal to phonetic geeks (or to simply help you move on in a post-“Battlestar Galactica” world). Anyway, in addition to mulling over a “Quantum Leap” reboot, it’s kicking off its new schedule this fall on October with “Stargate Universe.” (Our own Steven Lloyd Wilson will be attending their shindig at Comic-Con this week). In addition to that, “Scare Tactics,” “Sanctuary,” “Destination Truth,” and “Ghost Hunters” will return this fall, and SyFy has lined up a few movies, including a Children of the Corn remake and Open Graves.

Open Graves, which stars Eliza Dushku, has been sitting on a shelf since 2006 awaiting distribution. Apparently, it found it on the SyFy channel, and after you see the trailer, I think you’ll understand why. Not only does the trailer give the entire movie away (it’s about a board game, where the players die in real life the same way they die in the game), but it fails to take advantage of Dushku’s few assets (and I’m not talking about her Southern accent).

Check out the trailer and then call your cable provider to see about getting SyFy removed from your channel lineup.
