Replacing Daniel Craig is not something that’s likely on the immediate horizon, as Daniel Craig is still contracted to do one more film following the upcoming Spectre, but oddsmakers are already taking bets on who will replace him.
Among those considered possibilities include Jon Hamm (40 to 1 odds), Robert Pattinson (33/1), Tom Hiddleston (25/1), Jason Statham (66/1), Daniel Radcliffe (80/1) and Brad Pitt and Will Smith (100/1).
None of those guys make any sense at all — in fact, a female bond (EMILY BLUNT!) makes more sense than most of those guys.
In either respect, I have no idea why any consideration is being placed on anyone when Idris Elba is clearly the only man for the job, notwithstanding his own statements to the contrary, suggesting that speculation that he might replace Craig has actually damaged his chances (he’s still oddmakers’ second choice at 5 to 2 odds).
For some reason, however, Homeland star Damian Lewis has shot to the top of the list, leaping over Elba after a flurry of large bets was placed on him (insider leak?) Lewis would be a fine Bond, I guess, if Elba were otherwise busy leading a Star Wars film or headlining Magic Mike 3.
Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, and Michael Fassbender are close behind Lewis and Elba as frontrunners, according to bookies.
