In its ever-expanding quest to dominate all possible platforms of superhero storytelling, Marvel has announced it will launch a Wolverine podcast scripted by Ben Percy. Percy has written novels, screenplays, and comics for DC’s Green Arrow.
As you can see in Percy’s tweet, the podcast will be called Wolverine: The Long Night and will consist of 10 episodes of thirty minutes each.
This is the project I've been secretly working on the past five months. Wolverine: The Long Night. The 1st podcast (radio play) series put out by @Marvel . I wrote ten, half-hour episodes, with @RCArmitage as the title character. https://t.co/jRqezeTVeb

So what is the storyline of Wolverine: The Long Night and whose voices will we hear?
“Sally Pierce (Celia Keenan-Bolger) and Tad Marshall (Ato Essandoh), who arrive in the fictional town of Burns, Alaska, to investigate a series of murders. The duo team up with deputy Bobby Reid (Andrew Keenan-Bolger) to investigate their main suspect, Logan (Richard Armitage), but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.” VIA Geektyrant
It sounds like an old-timey radio serial, which I guess is what we’ve been getting with podcasts like, um, Serial or The Black Tapes. It’s also an intriguing and cost-effective way to tell more stories with Marvel characters without worrying about how the characters look (*cough*INHUMANS*cough*) or what faces or bodies are attached. It’s also a way to keep Logan going when we all know we’ve seen his last ride in theaters for (hopefully) a while.
Perhaps we can finally get a Squirrel Girl story happening if Marvel keeps pushing into this new arena.
