Here’s the thing.
I kind of hate Eli Roth. I thought his character was fun in Inglourious Basterds, but I think he’s a shit director. Really, really just talentless and lacking vision without a real grasp of how to effectively use actors, and how to develop a plot that doesn’t revolve around gore. But that’s just me. I hated Hostel, not because it was gross and excessive (though it was), but simply because it just it’s a shitty movie. As for Cabin Fever, the less said, the better.
All of this is my way of saying that the good news is that Eli Roth is not going to be involved in Hostel 3.
The bad news is that, well, they’re making a Hostel 3. This time around it’s being directed by Scott Spiegel (From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money), based on the screenplay by Michael Weiss (Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Butterfly Effect 2 — wait, there was a sequel?). So, expect the shittiness to increase exponentially. I can only assume that this will go straight to video.
Anyway, if you’re still inexplicably reading, this time around the setting will be Las Vegas, where a bachelor party somehow goes off the rails and, most likely, people get decapitated / exsanguinated / mutilated / eviscerated by a group of evil people who like being bad for purely rote, pointless reasons.
Also, given the plot and the locale, isn’t the title now something of a misnomer? Are there people who go to bachelor parties and stay in fucking student flophouses?
Whatever. Hostel 3 starts shooting later this year.
