New 'Jungle Book' Casting Takes a Turn For the Disturbing

For a supposed kids’ story, the upcoming The Jungle Book movie sure does have an adult cast. First they cast Idris Elba (as Shere Khan) and Scarlett Johansson (as an unusually sexy Kaa), and if there were ever two voices to make you want to curl up alone in your bunk for an indeterminate amount of time (forever?), those are them.

Now, Favreau has added two more actors to his cast. In this remake/reboot/adaptation/whatever you want to call it, which is going the CGI-ed live action route, King Louie…

…will be voiced by Christopher Walken. The man who makes tap dancing seem menacing.
Between this and his Peter Pan live broadcast, Chris Walken is infusing some serious villainous tension into my nostalgia.

And Akela, the leader of the wolf pack…

…will be voiced by Giancarlo Esposito, the man that haunted our nightmares for two full seasons of Breaking Bad.

This is shaping up to be a real kid-scarrer of a movie.
