A couple of days ago, Netflix released their first teaser for the Wet Hot American Summer series, which mostly amounted to a list of the names who are in the cast, so far, a list that includes (Control + V Joanna’s post): Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, Ken Marino, Zak Orth, David Hyde Pierce, Joe Lo Truglio, Christopher Meloni, A.D. Miles, Marguerite Moreau, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon, Kevin Sussman, Michaela Watkins, Josh Charles, John Slattery, Randall Park, Lake Bell, Jayma Mays, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Richard Schiff, and David Wain.
That is basically the best ensemble cast since, uh, Mars Attacks? Ocean’s 11? The Coneheads Movie? I dunno. Point is, it’s an amazing cast, and there’s no way it could possibly get any better. OR COULD IT?
Yes, it could! Chris Pine, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig and Jason Schwartzman have all been added to the ensemble for the eight-episode series. Hamm will play a spy, Wiig will play a snobby camp counselor at rival Tiger Claw, and Pine’s character is SHROUDED IN MYSTERY, although it may involve his tonsils and the taste of hamburger.
So, at this point, the only thing that could make this series better is a cameo from Bill Murray, and knowing Murray, he’ll just crash the set one day and make all of our dreams come true.
