NBC’s run of bad luck on Thursdays continues, as it has cancelled Bad Judge and A to Z, following the cancellation of three freshman comedies last season (The Michael J. Fox Show, that Sean Hayes show, and Welcome to the Family) and Community after five seasons. Of its Thursday night lineup of three years ago, only Parks and Recreation remains, and it’s likely to be paired with another freshman series in January, as it finishes out the series.
Both Bad Judge and A to Z, however, will finish their 13-episode orders, and since A to Z has only completed 11 so far, presumably the writers have time to wrap up their premise. I do not love A to Z, but I’d been sticking with it out of fondness for Cristin Milioti and Ben Feldman. Bad Judge was straight-up awful, but Kate Walsh was a goddamn delight in it.
Bad Judge and A to Z become the second and third cancellations of the season, following Manhattan Love Story. Mulaney has also had its order reduced.
