Specifically, I’m thinking she’s the Hindu goddess Shakti, who is the “personification of divine feminine creative power.” Oh, she obviously has elements of the goddess Parvati’s destruction and rejuvenation (see Monster and “Arrested Development”), and her career has definitely been guided by the goddess Lakshmi (financial stability, so many awards), but if any single individual can be described as the embodiment of the “dynamic forces that are thought to move through the entire universe” then it’s Charlize Theron. Her humanitarian efforts have something to do with it but, as we saw last week in her Prometheus photo shoot, she is clearly the world’s muse and we are helpless before her feminine power.
To further that claim, allow me to present a triptych of videos that feature the actress promoting her upcoming, highly anticipated films. First, we take a closer look at Theron’s company-woman character, Mereditch Vickers, in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus:
Next, here she is letting her hair down and poking fun at the hit fan-fiction-turned-erotic-bestseller 50 Shades of Gray, along with fellow Snow White and the Huntsman co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart. Pay especially close to Theron’s expression at around 2:29:
Finally, we have a sneak peek at another Charlize Theron film, and it’s one she may not want us to see, but we’re so glad we did (doesn’t matter if it was uploaded on April 1st at Funny or Die):
Toldja she had some Parvati in her.
Rob Payne also writes the comic The Unstoppable Force, tweets on the Twitter @RobOfWar, and his wares can be purchased here and here (if you’re into that sort of thing). He thinks this is only 34% as shameless as his Olivia Wilde post that one time.
