What's Next? The Blue Beetle?

This is likely not going to be relevant for at least a couple of years, but Variety is reporting that Marvel Studios is hiring writers. Slowly shifting away from their current focus on the Avengers franchise (Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America), and since Brett Ratner (die) effectively murdered the X-Men franchise and then took a steaming shit on its corpse, they are moving to begin planning for the next round of films. These will deal with some of their lesser known, second-tier characters.

Some of those in the works include Black Panther (*cough*DjimonHounsou*cough*), The Iron Fist (who does not actually have a fist made of iron), Doctor Strange (who could be a really good franchise, if done right), Cable and Vision (why he won’t be in the Avengers franchise is beyond me).

Interesting stuff. Personally, I’d still like to see The Silver Surfer, but not, you know, fucking stupid. The biggest missed opportunities for grown-up themed, non-fantastical characters have already been ruined — Affleck made sure to ruin Daredevil, and I don’t think they can find another way to fuck up the Punisher. He’s now been raped in three distinctly different but equally horrendous ways.

Fortunately, I don’t get too upset about these franchises that I adored as a kid and still read to this day.

Personally, I think they should just do a Marvel Zombies movie. I might die of joy.
