If Tom Hardy is going to be Venom, it makes a twisted kind of sense for Michelle Williams to play his love interest.
After all, I thought Hardy was probably out of the comic movie business after his turn as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. It made sense for him to play the villain since the films were directed by Christopher Nolan. Venom’s director is Ruben Fleischer and, while he did direct Pajiba favorite Zombieland, I’m not familiar with the rest of his body of work.
I’m intrigued and terrified about how this will all turn out. But if Michelle Williams is in, can it be bad?
In other news, Fathom Events is presenting the 1986 musical Little Shops of Horrors in theaters. This was one of my favorite movies as a kid and I had all of the songs memorized, as well as the dialogue. During the last total eclipse of the sun I hope for a people-eating plant of my very own to appear out of the sky. My hopes were dashed upon the pavement.
Anyway, about that theater run on October 29th and 31st: it will feature a Q&A with director Frank Oz and the original, darker ending.
Last and mostly least, Marvel is still trying to get people to watch the poorly-received Inhumans. The clips have been underwhelming and the effects look cheap and insulting. The IMAX episodes failed to impress and ABC has dropped suspiciously-worded comments that make us think there will be no season 2.
