Sorry. More Twilight News. But Look! Michael Sheen!

We first reported back in April that Michael Sheen — the acting God who has played Tony Blair twice (and will reprise his Blair again for a TV Movie about the Clintons) and a werewolf in all three Underworld films — had joined the cast of the Twilight sequel, New Moon. I think I must have wept that memory completely out of my system, because yesterday, when I saw the picture art for the New Moon villains, I nearly fell out of my goddamn chair. Why would they Photoshop the outstanding Michael Sheen into Twilight photos? That’s just fucking cruel.

And then the repressed memory resurfaced, and I remembered that he’d actually, willingly became part of the film. The crying Baby Jesus just pissed in my face. Indeed, Sheen is set to play Aro, the leader of the Volturi, an Italian coven of vampires, in the Chris Weitz directed film. Bella (Kristen Stewart) will be drawn toward the werewolves while being threatened by the Volturi.

It’s not much, but this was enough to make me apoplectic:

This is why, Mr. Sheen, I cannot anoint you the Official New Man Crush.

But wait! There’s more, less dispiriting news on the Michael Sheen front. It also looks like Sheen will be playing a villain in the Tron sequel, Tron Legacy. There aren’t really any details, but Disney did confirm his involvement. So, that’s something, right?

But just to ensure that we can go out on a high note here, let’s take another look at Sheen’s The Damned United trailer. The movie has already been released in the UK, and it’s heading to America in September. Nobody gives a shit about soccer here, but Michael Sheen is enough for anyone to overlook the world’s dullest sport (besides Cricket).
