Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, general badassitude) is the latest actor to start a very public campaign for a role in the Marvel universe. Personally, I’m a huge fan of this method of casting. Time is money, right? So why waste it on a lengthy auditioning process? Jessica Chastain says she wants her own superhero movie. Pacino wants one too. Great! Get the ball rolling on those, okay, Hollywood?

So what role does Williams have his eye on? “Black Panther. Yeah, definitely.”

As he sees it, he has a lot to offer Marvel.

It would depend on the script. I would definitely bring that quintessential New York City edge. You know, just a little bit of that grit.
I don’t doubt it. So how far along is this plan? Has he been approached by anyone at Marvel?
No not yet. And I’m saying ‘yet’ with a lot of emphasis. But hopefully I’m looking forward to being a part of the franchise.
Oh. I see.

Michael, I love you. I think you’re fantastic and Marvel should BE so lucky as to have you in their movies. But you can put as much emphasis as you want on that “yet” and it won’t get you any closer to a role. Just ask Donald Glover— oh, wait.

I take it all back.

Via Cinema Blend.

Vivian Kane hasn’t had Benedict Cumberbatch propose to her yet. But she’s really putting a lot of emphasis on that “yet,” so she’s not worried.
