The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop on Paramount’s upcoming live-action version of Nickelodeon’s beloved cartoon Dora The Explorer… produced by Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller.
No word yet on whether the film will be released under the title Dora The Exploder, as our own Petr suggests. But I’m sure Bay has considered that option.
Nicholas Stoller, the writer/director behind adult fare such as Neighbors and Forgetting Sarah Marshall as well as kid-friendly features like the updated Muppets movies, has been brought in to work on the script. The live-action take on the story will find a now-teenaged Dora moving to the city to live with her cousin Diego. Beyond that, details about the project are scarce. But anyone who has seen a single Transformers commercial is probably informed enough to speculate wildly. Will Dora be washing cars in a bikini and a backpack? Will there be pyrotechnics? How many pyrotechnics? Will Megan Fox play Dora’s mom, or teacher, or maybe mo-cap the monkey pal named Boots? The film is being targeted for a 2019 release, so we’ll only have to wait 2 years to find out!
