Meet the Actress Cast As 'Game of Thrones'' Young Cersei Lannister
Can you imagine the pressure of following in Lena Headey’s footsteps? Of trying to capture the girlish essence of such a fabulously bitchy character? That’s just what young Nell Williams (The Audience, The Revolting World of Stanley Brown [with Dean Charles Chapman aka Tommen]) faces; she’ll take on the role of Game of Thrones young Cersei Lannister, during a series of flashbacks. No worries though; Williams has already played young Queen Elizabeth II alongside the likes of Helen Mirren, Richard McCabe, and Paul Ritter, so she’ll probably feel right at home hanging with Lena. Seriously though, well done Nina Gold and Robert Sterne; she’s got the look:
David Benioff and Dan Weiss initially set out to do the series with “No prophecies, dreams or flashbacks,” but they now seem resolute in breaking the final of their three rules to address a certain important book prophesy. (please avoid spoilers in the comments). Note: Though Watchers on the Wall (mild book spoilers at the link) refers to season 5 flashbacks, Williams’ imdb entry has her listed for several 2016/season 6 episodes.
Additionally, Hattie Gotobed (Snow White and the Huntsman) has been cast as a character called “Ghita.”
That’s it for current casting news. Set-your-DVR alert: HBO has added a season 5 preview special called Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life that will air February 8th at 7:30 p.m. EST.
