Jason Reitman's 'Ghostbusters' Cast Is Coming Together Nicely (Please Don't Yell at Me)

A few months ago, after it was announced that Jason Reitman would direct a new Ghostbusters, he said some really dumb things that didn’t exactly sit well with fans of the female-led Ghostbusters. He apologized, however, and Paul Feig came to his defense, and since then, Reitman has done a decent job of shutting the hell up.

The best thing that Reitman can do for his Ghostbusters movie — apparently a direct sequel to the first two entries — is to be quiet and let his movie promote itself. In that regard, he’s on the right track, anyway. He’s cast the beloved Carrie Coon along with Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard in his film, which is said to apparently revolve around a family with a single mom. Coon will play that mom, while Wolfhard will play the son.

Today, we have learned that the sister in that family has also been cast, and she is a delight. Twelve-year-old Mckenna Grace will take on the role. You may know her best as the young Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel, but I was won over by her in a marvelous little Chris Evans film called Gifted, which is an absolute treasure of a film. She also played the young Tonya Harding in I, Tonya the young Theo in The Haunting of Hill House, the young Emma in Once Upon a Time, the young Caroline in The Vampire Diaries, the young Abby Fisher in CSI, and Even Younger Chloe in The Goodwin Games. She’s really good at playing the Younger version of characters.

The cast, anyway, suggests an Amblin-esque sequel, though I assume it will not be set in the 1980s. Hopefully, the plot details can remain shrouded in mystery until the trailer is released, and Reitman can keep his mouth shut until then and let his usually reliable work speak for itself.
