Mae Whitman Cast as Ugly, Fat Friend in CBS Films Comedy Because Apparently the Director Is Blind
The Parenthood and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World star has inexplicably been cast as the lead in DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend). It’s a CBS films comedy based on Kody Keplinger’s coming-of-age novel. Whitman will play Bianca, a 17-year-old girl who deals with the ignominy of being labeled the “designated ugly fat friend” of her social group by leading her fellow DUFFs in a scheme to overthrow the school’s evil queen.
A few things:
1) Mae Whitman is not fat.
2) She will have to spend at least three hours in the makeup chair every morning in order to look ugly, or else fall into a vat of acid between now and when the film begins shooting.
3) 17? I mean, she’s not that old (25), but can she pull off 17? Well, I guess if Aubrey Plaza can play a high-school virgin in The To-Do List, anything is possible.
4) Her? Why, she’s as plain as the Ann on nose’s face!
