TV can be a cruel mistress, giving us such smart and silly shows as Parks and Recreation and Kroll Show only to snatch them away before we’re ready to say goodbye. But film is coming in to soothe our aching hearts. So, TV, you can suck it!
Deadline reports Adam Scott, Jenny Slate and Nick Kroll are teaming up for My Blind Brother, a comedy that—you know what? Do you really need to know the plot? It’s got Adam Scott with his cute butt and geeky charm, Jenny Slate with her rubber face and remarkable comedic timing, and comedy chameleon Nick Kroll. We’re all just going to go see this as a group, right? Right?
Fine. Have it your way.
Based on Sophie Goodhart’s Palme D’Or-nominated short of the same name, My Blind Brother will focus on a love triangle that develops between two brothers and the woman they both fall for. Scott will star as a ladies man/star athlete who also happens to be blind. Kroll plays his less good at all things brother, who basically serves as Scott’s eyes. Slate plays the love interest described by Deadline as a “young woman.” No matter what the part, we bet Slate will bring some depth and loads of laughs with it, but it’s a bit vexing that’s all the trade could muster about her character’s description.
Fun fact: the 2003 short “My Blind Brother” starred Arrested Development’s Tony Hale in the Kroll role. You can check out a clip below to see Hale and get a sense of Goodhart’s tone:
Production on My Blind Brother will begin in May, which means the comedy should hit in 2016.
