Most of you who clicked on this are probably like me when I did so, saying to yourself, “Eh? Sandler? Really?” I know, I know! But remember when he used to write funny songs that were a nice blend of cute and crass? And how we loved in not in spite of his juvenalia, but because of it?

That Sandler showed up on Letterman last night, and sang a tribute to Dave that was heartfelt, funny, and just a little bit crass. It was enough to actually earn the man a hug from Dave, and that’s no small feat. It might have even made me tear up a little.

Why isn’t this Sandler making movies for Netflix now?
