“He was a legend born on the battlefield. One warrior caught between two worlds. I must go or you will all be in danger. Fellas like you and me, we don’t run. Ninjas, damn.” Wait, what was that last one? And who was saying it? That’s right, Geoffrey Rush, motherfrakkers. The Oscar winning actor is in this glorious cheesefest that, despite itself, looks to be a fun ride.
Rush plays a drunk in the small, western town where Asian warrior assassin Yang (Jang Dong-gun, Friend) is hiding out. Kate Bosworth (21) also stars as a circus knife thrower. Does any of this make the least bit of sense? No. But somehow this mash-up of martial arts, western and fantasy looks like it’ll be worth the ride.
The Warrior’s Way is written and directed by newcomer Sngmoo Lee and also stars Danny Huston (Robin Hood, Clash of the Titans) and Tony Cox (Disaster Movie) and is set to open December 3, 2010.
